How do I cut my cake?

The video and written instructions below demonstrates cutting a cake into coffee sized servings. We recommend cutting using the “finger” method shown in order to get the most out of your cake. It is handy to have a chopping board ready to place each piece on before you cut it into smaller pieces.
Note: Coffee serves are 1 inch x 1 inch, and dessert serves are 1 inch x 2 inches

1. Remove decorations
2. Mark out 1 inch spaced indents, which will form the width of each piece
3. Cut into the first indentation, and move the slab onto a chopping board
4. Cut coffee or dessert sized fingers and distribute
5. Continue cutting the cake until all is served
NOTE: If your cake is a double barrel, multi-tier or extended tier, remove the cake board from the middle once the top cake has been cut and served as above, and then continue cutting the bottom cake the same way, removing the dowels during the process.

How do I transport my cakes?

CUPCAKES

Cupcakes will be provided in a box of either 6, 12, or 24 depending on your order amount. Boxes of 6 are pretty forgiving in the way that they are carried, however the boxes of 12 and 24 are quite large, and are best supported from either side of the box rather than directly underneath the box. Supporting them directly underneath can result in the cupcakes being pushed up out of their slots, which is best avoided. While driving, store them either on the seat in your car, or the boot or floor of your car, as long as they are kept completely flat. Drive carefully!

REGULAR SIZED, TALL & MULTI-TIER CAKES

We strongly recommend that cakes of this size NOT be transported on the lap of any passenger.

Regular sized, tall & multi-tier cakes are provided in a tall cardboard box, usually with a clear window in the front. When carried, these cakes are best supported from underneath in the centre. Take care not to press the sides of the box into the cake.
When driving, bring a towel, and store the cake on the floor of your car, with the towel wrapped very loosely around the base in order to prevent the cake from sliding. If the box size does not allow the cake to be on the floor of your car, instead store the cake on a seat, using the towel rolled up underneath the box to act as a level if required (most car seats are on a slight angle). Lightly and gently put your seatbelt around the box. Drive VERY carefully!

How do I store my cake?

Cupcakes, unless otherwise specified, do not need to be stored in the fridge, but they should be kept somewhere cool. All other cakes however should be stored in the fridge unless otherwise specified in the guide we provide you with prior to collection. Bring your cake out and leave it at room temperature for approximately an hour before the time you wish to serve it. Note that on hotter days, less time is required, and cold days may require longer.

Do you have gluten free options?

Yes! We are hoping to add more options soon, but currently offer a small variety of gluten free options. One of our home residents is coeliac, so we understand how important a gluten free order is! For legal reasons, we do have to stipulate that all orders are prepared in a kitchen where gluten containing products are also prepared, however we thoroughly clean all surfaces in accordance with council requirements, store gluten free ingredients separately, and use entirely separate utensils and food preparation items for gluten free orders. Our resident coeliac confidently eats from our kitchen every day!

How do I place an order?

Orders can be placed via the “Request A Quote” page on our website. This way, we can gather as much information about your order needs upfront, lessening the time needed to communicate, and we can provide you with a tailored price. Bookings will then be confirmed upon receipt of all relevant information, and receipt of deposit.

Do you make dairy free, egg free or vegan cakes?

This is probably our most commonly asked question! Unfortunately, these options are not yet available. We may look into adding dairy and egg free options, but unfortunately won’t be offering vegan.

Do you make your items from scratch?

Yes! We can say very proudly that everything is made from scratch, using quality ingredients in a clean, council registered and approved kitchen. The only exception to this is fondant, which is purchased ready-made.

What flavours can I choose for my cake?

Menu options can be seen on the Menu & Price Guide page. New flavours will be added as they become available. We only offer options where our recipes have been tried, tested and deemed perfect by us, so we generally won’t take requests for flavours outside of those currently offered, nor will we ever agree to make something we’ve never trialled before. This way you can be assured your order will be of the highest quality.

Do you have a minimum order amount?

Yes! Please refer to the Menu & Price Guide page to see minimum order amounts.

What happens if I need to cancel my order?

Let us know ASAP!! The refund policy is dependent on how much notice of cancellation is provided, and how much preparation work has already been done. In some cases, cake toppers, flowers, fondant decorations etc. all need to be either purchased or made in advance. In cases like this, the deposit is non-refundable. It is also strictly non-refundable regardless of circumstances if cancellation occurs with 48 hours or less notice. In all other cases, flexibility of refunds can be extended.

Do you offer delivery?

Yes! Deliveries will incur an additional charge, based on distance travelled. It is best to let us know if you prefer delivery or collection on your initial request for quote.
